ChemTech

We are pleased to share that two PhD students from our institute presented their work at the First Year Graduate Student Symposium 2025, hosted by the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Bern.

🔹 Lionel Rumpf, supervised by Dr. Laura Hendriks, is working in the field of heritage science, developing new strategies to radiocarbon date painted artworks.

🔹 Rémy Mariaux is exploring sustainable chemistry through mechanochemical approaches in the group of Prof. Dr Ludovic Gremaud.

A huge congratulations to both of them, and an extra round of applause to Lionel, who was awarded the first Prize for Best Presentation for his work entitled “Untangling Bulk 14C Dates of Paintings, Compound Specific Radiocarbon Analysis of Organic Lake Pigmented Paint Samples”.

Thanks to Uni Bern for organizing this event and supporting the next generation of researchers.
