In the digital era, secure, intelligent and reliable systems have become essential in all areas of industry, particularly in the automotive, aeronautics, rail transport and energy production sectors.
Security and sustainable development require the implementation of intelligent and reliable systems. The institute iSIS covers the entire process chain from data acquisition to the complete IT system. Thanks to the close cooperation with the institute’s industrial and academic partners on national and international level, the iSIS institute is able to offer a wide range of services such as conducting research projects and mandates, and providing consulting as well as training and further education
The iSIS institute is the ideal partner for the development of secure, intelligent and reliable systems for a wide range of industrial applications. It is very well experienced and skilled in the field of robust embedded systems, combining hardware, networks and software and covers the entire value chain from sensors to complex IT systems.
Thanks to the close cooperation with the institute’s industrial and academic partners on national and international level, we are able to offer a wide range of services such as conducting research projects and mandates and providing consulting as well as training and further education
With ROSAS (Center for Robust and Safe Systems Fribourg), our institute disposes since 2015 over a unique competence center with a focus on functional safety and certification aspects of complex systems in the fields of vehicle construction, aviation, railways and power generation.
In April 2018, ROSAS founded the spin-off CertX AG, which is the first accredited certification body in Switzerland to certify products according to standards and regulations for functional safety and cybersecurity.
Research Focus Areas
The iSIS Institute is the ideal partner for the development of reliable and secure system solutions including acquisition, transformation, communication, data security as well as embedded and mobile applications. Leveraging key competencies of its internal, national and international network, the institute is ideally positioned to meet the new challenges of the mobile society around the innovative topic AIM (Automated and Integrated Mobility), which covers the common needs of automated vehicles such as cars, trains and drones.
The institute iSIS works along two complementary lines of research:
- Systems safety and reliability
- Embedded and networked systems
Services and support
As a service institution, iSIS offers the following services:
- Consulting and development of embedded systems (Hardware and Software)
- Designing electronic systems (PCB), including the prototyping and assembly of electronic boards
- Repair of electronic boards (including assembly and dismantling of BGA packages)
- Analysis of weaknesses in electronic and IT systems (hardware and software)
- Machine and equipment safety analyses
- Network and access interface analyses
